Lime Wood Hotel

Major hotel redevelopment: Lime Wood, formerly Le Poussin, at Parkhill.

"Working with MKP is always refreshing. Any problems you have, they treat them as their own. They bring a real hands-on approach and they work very hard for their money; that means, as a client, you can always rely on getting value for money from a professional partner, one you can trust."
Ian Daly, Project Manager, Ineos Capital

A six-year relationship with this major chemicals and property development corporation recently culminated in MKP fulfilling the role of mechanical and electrical engineering consultants on a £35 million redevelopment project.

An existing country house hotel in the New Forest was replaced with a 33-bedroom 5-star hotel plus luxury spa, two pavilions, six two-storey apartments, staff quarters and a coach house.

MKP designed the mechanical and electrical systems for the whole site.

The project involved a high level of pro-activity and innovation, combined with an ongoing drive to contain costs.

MKP's toughest challenge was working within the tight spatial constraints imposed by a celebrated conceptual architect. The requisite plant, necessary to fulfil the demands of a commercial operation, had to be 'shoe-horned' into a services space adequate only for a domestic residence.

Making it tick

"They're flexible and they all keep a cool head. Sometimes the parameters of a project change as it evolves; MKP are never flustered, they provide constancy and serve as great anchor-point for the project. This was a complex project and MKP designed everything that makes the place tick across a diversity of buildings in a campus scenario."
